The entry “Bright Green” won the architectural competition of the current Tallinn Prison territory plan from among five participants, the authors of which are architects of architectural office KOKO Karis Kahr, Raivo Kotov, Margit Kärner, Lea Laidra and Indrek Mikk.
Housing development volume of the winning entry fits well with the neighbouring area with cultural and environmental value, as well as the planned Southern Passage, by connecting the network of streets of the Veerenni area, the Tallinn Siselinna Cemetery and green corridors, and other spatial elements affecting the movement. Public space and planting of vegetation function during all seasons and are meant for use also by city dwellers. This project can be developed by smaller parts.
The jury was chaired by the representative of the State Real Estate Ltd. Hannes Kuhlbach; members of the jury were Aare Aun from the Ministry of Justice, Arvo Rikkinen from the Tallinn City Government and architects Jaak Huimerind and Toomas Paaver.
The development of area can be started when the new Tallinn Prison is completed in Maardu.
