Only arrested persons are allowed to receive packages. Packages may only contain items listed in § 58 (2), (3) and (5) of the Prison Rules of Internal Procedure.
Packages may not contain food!
The deliverer of a hand package hands it over with the application (in duplicate) to a prison officer who checks its content and weight in the presence of the deliverer and gives his/her signature certifying the receipt of the package. One of the application duplicates shall be given to the deliverer and the other remains with the prison and the arrested person shall sign it certifying the receipt of the package.
It is also possible to send a package to the arrested person by post.
A hand package which has arrived in the name of the arrested person who has been placed in confinement shall not be accepted; in fact, it shall be accepted, but handed to him/her after release from confinement.
Receiving packages by arrested persons is governed by § 98 of the Imprisonment Act and by Chapter 15 of Minister of Justice Regulation No 72 of 30 November 2000 “Prison Rules of Internal Procedure.”
